Beatrix Potter with a bunny |
You will recall that Angelika and her daughter visited a couple of days ago (how can you forget, I blogged it Monday?) and they glazed a few items they had made in this studio a month ago.

They live on a small farm near my house with some huge chickens and HUGE angora bunnies! Take a big bunny and cover it with six inches of fur, THAT is an angora bunny!
I am told that aside from the length and abundance of fur, angora bunny fur is also 6 times warmer than sheeps' wool!
Angelika's family raises the bunnies for this fur, which is woven into mittens and sweaters!
This dude has a certain MARX BROTHERS look going on....
I am not kidding, these rabbits are beagle sized...have a great weekend!

Bunnies are cute. I like to watch the bunny that lives with the chickens on hencam.com. Those angora bunnies should have no problem with the cold!
Those bunnies are adorable. Will we see them on pots soon?
Oh my goddess! I was relieved to see that the fur is harvested without hurting the bunnies (except their pride probably)...love that soft wool! Somehow I'd never known angora came from rabbits...just never connected the link in my brain.
Those are some beautiful bunnies. I love rabbits, but when my daughter had one growing up, I realized that they really weren't good pets... at least ours wasn't.
Note to Barbara- Angora wool comes mostly from goats, and is also known as mohair. Wikipedia!
Oooh! Fluffy!!!!
