It flings a crystal veil...

Sure, we're getting some snow today, a foot, more or less, unusual in that usually it is either very cold or very snowy and this is BOTH very cold and very snowy....

L. Snow by Emily Dickinson

It sifts from leaden sieves,
It powders all the wood,
It fills with alabaster wool
The wrinkles of the road.

It makes an even face
Of mountain and of plain, --
Unbroken forehead from the east
Unto the east again.

It reaches to the fence,
It wraps it, rail by rail,
Till it is lost in fleeces;
It flings a crystal veil

On stump and stack and stem, --
The summer's empty room,
Acres of seams where harvests were,
Recordless, but for them.

It ruffles wrists of posts,
As ankles of a queen, --
Then stills its artisans like ghosts,
Denying they have been.

We have an old cemetery just down the street...WOW is it pretty in snow....

In other news, you might need a pair of goblets, a pair of panda mugs, or some other groovy item for your, um, Valentine! Shop with me at my etsy gallery!

We barely got snow, but 11 degrees is cold enough. I love Emily Dickenson's poem...thanks so much for posting it here!

That's the first time I read that particular poem and thank you for sharing it. It's a regular snow globe kind of day today (after you shake it and tip it upright again).

It is really pretty, hopefully it will warm up enough that you can go out and play in it.

That poem is beautiful….as if your fluffy snow. I didn't know that Spike went outside; he seems to enjoy the cold.
Next week I share a photo of my snowfall.
HA!

Breathtaking--I read about your weather. How rare and wonderful. But I hope you're keeping warm in it!
