OH, hmm, Arbor Day is April 10. ANY day is a good day to plant a tree, though, right? We get a lot of junky trees trying to grow on the margins of our yard and they end up under the lawnmower. BUT yesterday we spied a wee SUGAR MAPLE just a few inches tall coming up along the fence, and before the weed eater got it we moved it to its own awesome spot. Penny and Yogi, who was visiting HELPED A LOT. LATER that same day, we were over at Bronwyn's and Steve's place by Treman State Park. Holy CATS they live in a nice piece of woods, they have their own GORGE! Five waterfalls (or more?) in their front yard. They have the woods, the creek, the waterfalls, plus all that they farm....the wife spied a wee sugar maple on the path which was my souvenir of the day...we shall plant it next to its cousin out there and hope they thrive.
I hope YOU thrive and have the awesome weekend!

We have planted all the trees, except one, in our yard. Most of them from our fence- row along our neighbor's woods. In the summer we would walk along and mark a few trees, then dig them up in the fall and plant them in our yard. Our sons would always groan, since they had the job of trimming around all the trees with the push mower (this was before spin trimmers). Thirty-eight years later our original 5 acres is shaded nicely. Unfortunately we have two large Ash trees that are dead from the Emerald Ash Borers. It's sad, kind of like loosing a close family friend.
