Buster Boo

Its been a tough few months for our old lab Buster. We got him 12 1/2 years ago as a tiny pup and I remember carrying him out first thing his first morning and it just tripped off the tongue "Buster Boo" as his whole name. Anyway, he grew into the hugest 120 pound dog, but the absolute best behaved and sweetest too.
He has, as a nearly 13 year old dog would, terrible arthritis in his back legs and can't do the 6 steps down to the backyard, and now he can't do the 2 steps down to the front yard. I made a ramp and he was very scared of it, but needing to pee and a pocket full of treats taught him how easy it could be....relief here, because I have been trying to lift him up the steps and it has been quite traumatic. So, he can relax, I can relax, he can keep enjoying summer....

Poor Buster Boo!!!! You're a good pet owner to build your boy a ramp, Gary.

I can see those days coming very soon for our senior citizen, Deacon D. Dawg. He's 11. His littermate and sister, Gracie (who belongs to our friends) died on the 4th of July weekend. Very sad, indeed! We're pretty sure Deakie's days are numbered if he follows true to his genetic form.

what about a slightly grippy surface on the ramp? In case of damp weather

Oh, sweet Buster! What good people he has!
We had to build stairs to our bed for Minchy (and subsequently Frances) because he's so prone to herniated discs now and the jump down would trigger it. Nothing worse than when your doggie's in pain. :(

I do need to get the abrasive strips that adhere to stair risers and get that on there, for traction :)

That's a super sturdy looking ramp you built. Lucky dog to have you.

You are so thoughtful to do this for Buster Boo. Please give him a pat on the head from his auntie!
