slowest spring EVER....

It being my birthday week and all, I went and saw my mom and dad yesterday at their farm in the hills an hour from here.  At our house, we have some bare patches, and a foot of snow elsewhere.

They still have a whole lot more...........

I told them the only thing I wanted for my birthday was my mom's 1960 egg beater.  It is a steel beast, could survive a nuclear blast, made in some American factory to survive ANYTHING (you know the thing, has a handle which turns 2 rotating things, so you can beat things like a cake mixer does, but without electricity?).  It was my favorite toy when I was little.  No surprise I grew up to be a master chef, right?

They wouldn't give it to me.  I told them I would have to steal it, or maybe they could add a note at the bottom of the will "Gary doesn't want anything, just the egg beater".

See that down there?  That is their pond and its dock....

Your Dad is one cool looking dude. I can't believe they wouldn't give you the egg beater.

Love the pic of you and Dad. Harvest the ice for when it's summertime? Pack it in sawdust I believe, in a shed or basement.

Such a pretty spot!
Bummer about that beater. I have my grandma's and my kids are terribly fond of it. They'll battle over it when I pass someday no doubt:)
Happy birthday--you sure spent it in a beautiful place.

My Mom had one of those egg beaters. I used to use it all the time. The one thing I want from their house is my favorite spoon. Last spring my Dad said to take it home with me... but Mom said my great niece uses it when she visits, so I left it there. I think next trip it's coming home with me!
That sure is a lot of snow. I hope that Spring finds you before Summer arrives.

We only got the electricity connected last year.
I was pleased to retire my hand egg beaters. Meringue now much easier! Just waiting for the lemons to ripen.

I love those old egg beaters. Now I wonder what happened to the one from my grandma's house???
