I have done hundreds of art shows over the years. Only once or twice has weather kept me home, and only once or twice have passing showers made me dive for cover. So that looks like a 99 percent weather success rate, right? WELL, there was also one time I set up in a hurricane, sold a pot, packed up and left...a HURRICANE. I was holding my table down, and lucky nothing broke. So, 98 percent success rate, weather wise, which is unusually good for an art fair record.
I no longer have a truck or wagon, a tent or canopy and I also do NOT go to fairs nearly every weekend like I did in my 30s. I have the internet GOD BLESS IT, which is easier on the back...and everything else. So, the few fairs I do have to be a good price and either indoors or under a circus tent.
Saturday I was headed, as you know, to Six Mile Creek Winery, near my house, for their harvest fest. It was superb and beautiful weather, as it ALWAYS is ... for about the last hour or 2. But HOLY CATS for 7 hours before that the weather was AWFUL. Not a hurricane, but BAD. So, some nice people came out late, with the sun, and turned it into a nice day and many of my friends surprised me by coming along, thanks to the GOD BLESSED INTERNET.
I will admit to arriving home shivering and crawling into an exhausted bed soon thereafter...

Oh dear, Gary, that's just the pits. Nice looking set-up!
Yes, the internet is so much easier than doing a show. I would much rather spend the day packing and weighing boxes, than schlepping all that stuff to show. Someday, Jeff and I can hopefully skip the show scene.
Ugh! Sorry you had a soggy day. Glad things cleared up at the end at least.
It sounds exhausting and you were brave!
