blowing a raspberry...

Pretty funny expression, "blowing a raspberry"...we all know it means making a fart sound "phhhllllzzzbbbttt", but where does it come from?  Wiki knows.

ANYWAY, now that I have been able to make fart jokes, let's talk raspberry JAM!  You will recall that last month the wife and I picked raspberries at the farm....and four-leaf clovers! We froze them (the raspberries, we pressed the clovers) and waited for cooler days to make the jam.  I wanted to try a no-pectin, just fruit and sugar recipe, and it is DELISH!  You boil it longer, but no big deal.  Raspberry jam is EASY, nothing to chop! The only hard part is the picking.....but on thick bushes covered with fruit, that was EASY too.  I guess some people have televisions or go on vacation --we make jam..... or pickles.  We made pickles too after a friend gave us a bunch of pickling cucumbers--with dill I grew--...we hadn't done that one before...yummy yummy...

Ten plus jars....

Ten cups raspberries....

This is just before I switched to the LONG spoon...that stuff bubbling all over your hands is HOT...

I am a jar filling SPECIALIST. The wife is like
"everybody is gonna see you making jam in your jammies".
True!

A little of our peach jam, the first of our raspberry jam on some of my zucchini bread...and the cat licking his parts.  You would think that would be unappetizing but I ignored him :)

So, you were jamming in your jambes! How awesome on both counts. Love the homemade pickles too; yum!

Yum, yum, yum! I've never made jam. I make apple butter every other year and used to make pickles with my best friend Jen. Now I want jam and zucchini bread!

Yum! And so easy to make, but I never did it without pectin. What was your sugar/berry ratio?
